the production of the legendary wines of the douro region originated in one of the most fascinating landscapes inhabited by man. classified by unesco as a world heritage site in 2001, it was also the first wine region in the world to be officially named a demarcated zone by the marquis of pombal, prime-minister of portugal, in 1756. the steep banks of the river douro, covered, in stepped rows, by beautiful ancient vines, form a unique and majestic sight.
in addition to this magnificent setting, the region combines the tradition of the world renown port wine with the production of excellent table wines.
